It is almost two years on from the historical crossover of Conor McGregor v Floyd Mayweather. The illustrious event saw the sports of MMA and Boxing collide for an evening, where fans were intrigued to see if the seemingly impossible could be achieved. Alas, McGregor was unsurprisingly, to most, defeated and the earth continued spinning.
However, the rumours have been spiralling as of late about the possibility for potential future bouts between the two sports. Dana has not ruled them out when asked, but there has not been much proof to work with for the media. Until today.
Dana White and Matchroom Boxing Managing Director, Eddie Hearn, met at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. It is currently unknown as to why the pair spoke, or whether it was a passing through for Hearn. Although, this has surely added fuel to the fire for the prospect of crossovers to come.
Eddie Hearn manages the likes of Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte, Amir Khan and Kell Brook to name a few. This prestigious clientele offers an enticing variety for Dana White to pick from.
Joshua v Ngannou/Miocic? Khan v Diaz? The possibilities are endless, I'm sure. For now, the MMA community will have to continue playing Chinese whispers.
